Slippery Rock Summer LuncH PrograM

CommunityDuring the school year, children from low-income families often receive two-thirds of their nutritional intake each day from their school breakfasts and lunches.

Unfortunately however, for many children, summer vacation represents a hungry time in their households due to these meals being no longer available.

In response to this need, a cooperative effort between the Feed My Sheep Food Cupboard and local churches and civic groups, has agreed to sponsor the Summer Lunch Program. The meals that are to be sent to each child will be prepared at the Center Presbyterian Church in Slippery Rock, and delivered to four different locational sites in our local area.

Since the program began, Ginger Hill UUC takes responsibility for one week of the program—preparing food, delivering it to the children at many different locations and cleaning u

Food Pantry Collection

In the back of our church sanctuary there is a basket to collect donations of canned and nonperishable food items for our local (Slippery Rock) food pantry.

Community Dinner

In collaboration with other Slippery Rock churches, we also participate in a monthly interfaith Community Dinner that offers a free meal to anyone from the public who would like to attend. The Community Dinner is a great way to serve those who may be struggling financially, are in need of community contact, or would simply like to enjoy a delicious meal with friends and neighbors.

On the 3rd Thursday of every month from 4:30 – 6:30pm

Center United Presbyterian Church, Slippery Rock, PA.

Financial donations are accepted, but optional, at the door of each Community Dinner. Ginger Hill Unitarian Universalist Congregation members and friends are asked to volunteer by helping with cooking, serving or cleaning up.
